I really like these scarves--each one is unique and made by hand. The handwritten tag says what botanicals she uses on each scarf. The artist's name is Mayumi Fujio. All the plants she uses are ethically harvested from the Bay Area and her art pieces are sold at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, Seattle Asian Art Museum, and other prestigious art fairs around the Bay Area. In 2022 she received "the artist of the year" award at the prestigious Mill Valley Art Festival.
In the pictures, I have pointed out a yellowish natural dye, which at first I thought was a stain. Upon inspecting the entire scarf, I noticed that this color is used throughout the scarf and is intentional.
From the website: This is 100% wool with a blend of cashmere that makes it a baby soft scarf. It is a hand dyed scarf using natural dye from Eucalyptus leaves, rolled and steamed for 2 hours to extract the color and patterns from the leaves. It is like printing a photo directly from the leaves to the fabric. The plants are harvested from the San Francisco Bay Area, and each piece is handmade using natural dyes on silk. It takes several days process to make each scarf, and each piece is unique and cannot be reproduced. Each piece comes with a hand written label describing all the plants that were used.
