“Berserker Rune” Runic Symbol Nordic Norse Scandinavian Viking Animal Warrior Fighter Battle Hamask Berserk Shapeshifter Bear Boar Wolf Fantasy Coin Button Dainty Mini Petite Tiny Silver Stainless Steel Unisex Stud Post Earrings.
Berserkers (Old Norse: berserkir) were said to have fought in a trance-like fury, which later gave rise to the modern English word berserk (furiously violent or out of control). It is proposed by some that the northern warrior tradition originated from hunting magic. Three main animal cults appeared: the bear, the wolf, & the wild boar. In battle, the berserkers were subject to fits of frenzy. They would howl like wild beasts, foam at the mouth, and gnaw the rims of their shields. During these fits, they were supposedly immune to steel & fire, & made great havoc in the ranks of the enemy. To "go berserk" was to "hamask", which translates to “change form.” Some scholars interpreted those who could transform as a berserker as "hamrammr" or "shapestrong" – literally able to shapeshift into an animal’s form.
These little silver buttons/coins have the black berserker rune/symbol. Unisex — women or men. Stainless Steel. Anti-tarnish! Hypoallergenic. Lead & nickel free. New.
