Inspired by Nigeria's rich artisan heritage, Dye Lab works with skilled local artisans and locally-sourced materials, fusing traditional techniques with their contemporary vision. Every element of the vividly coloured line up are locally produced – fabrics, dyeing, stitching, panelling. The label's signature silhouette is a modern take on the Agbada, a traditional Nigerian garment, updated in whimsical, colourful prints made with hand dyed textiles using Adire wax resist dyeing, a technique unique to the Yoruba people. Every design includes details in Aso-Oke and Baule Kita, specialty Nigerian and Ivorian hand-woven cloths. Each piece is hand designed, hand dyed and handmade while aiming to promote and employ sustainable practices and minimise waste.
