Vintage Folk Art Duck
This item is a Korean wedding duck, a traditional hand-carved and hand-painted wooden figurine used in marriage ceremonies to symbolize fidelity and peace.
Traditionally, these ducks are presented as a pair to the bride by the bridegroom.
The painted beak color often indicates the gender: red for the bride and blue for the groom. This is a lone female.
When displayed in the home, placing them bill-to-bill indicates a harmonious relationship.
They are now a popular folk art collectible.
This female duck has an eye hook for hanging.
Condition: Very good. Clean and no chipped paint. It does have a non-sticky rectangular mark on the bottom (see photo); most likely where it once had a tag.
