Mr Jackson's Mushrooms by H.A.C. Jackson edited by Mimi Cazort. Beautiful book with colour plates. Dust jacket has some wear. The book itself has a nice textured finish. The pages themselves are very nice quality. Almost like aquarelle paper. The plate pages are glossy paper. Inscription is front of cover. The book itself is in really good condition. I’ve owned this book for years now. I thought I would frame the plates. But I couldn’t bring myself to destroy this beautiful book. Smoke and pet free home. The book is the record of a Canadian naturalist and artist, Henry Jackson, elder brother of A.Y. Jackson. It is also his record of changes, both social and environmental, that took place in Montreal and the Quebec countryside during the Depression, the Second World War, and the period immediately following. It is finally a testament to the rich inner resources of a man who, with very little money and no formal education, celebrated the abundance and variety of the natural world around him.
