This is a first generation Corningware Blue Cornflower 7 inch skillet/casserole with the original lid. Lid model number P-7-C. Good vintage condition. No cracks, no chips.
Embossed marks on the bottom are a large “Starburst” with CORNING above and WARE below, 7 IN. MADE IN USA, A-1
The following timeline identifies the production eras based on the visual characteristics of the bottom stamp—
Production Era: First Generation 1958-1959
Backstamp Characteristics: Embossed/raised marks. The first generation had embossed marks. Skillets often showed width in inches (e.g., "7 inch") rather than model numbers.
Corning Ware pieces from the first generation (1958-1959) are highly desirable to collectors because they feature an embossed (raised) backstamp rather than a printed one.
