The History of the Liberty Bowl The Original: Commissioned by 15 members of the Sons of Liberty, the original bowl was a political statement honoring the "Glorious Ninety-Two" Massachusetts legislators who refused to rescind a letter protesting the Townshend Acts. The Design: Its simple, elegant silhouette was inspired by Chinese export porcelain of the era. The original silver bowl is considered one of America's most important historic artifacts, alongside the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
