Nearly mint condition vintage Caro-Nan basket purse from the 1960s or 1970s, which features a woven wicker body, a hinged wooden lid, and a wooden swing handle. Made in the USA, hand painted and signed by the artist. Tennis rackets and balls on the top of the lid with one tennis racket and ball on the lower left hand corner. Under the lid is signed "Mademoiselle Shop" and "By Caro-Nan". Lined with yellow floral fabric. Bottom shows light signs of age appropriate wear, please see last photo. Otherwise no visible flaws. Caro-Nan purses were made by Carolyn McDaniel and Nancy Steele in Jackson, Mississippi from the late ’50s to the mid ’70s. As their popularity spread, they custom-made them for boutiques around the country.
