A wonderful vintage Japanese folk art horse. Vintage from the 1970's. Great blocky cubistic shape cut out of wood with beautiful hand painted detailing over a red base color. These were a symbol of good luck, traditionally given out at weddings and celebrations. Hand carved and hand painted. A pop of color for any space! Great condition, no chips or cracks. 6 1/2" Tall X 4 1/4" Wide X 1 3/4" Deep Yawata-Uma, a traditional wooden horse figurine from Hachinohe, represents over 700 years of Japanese folk art, serving as both a talisman for protection and a symbol of happiness, community identity, and artisanal craftsmanship.
