Antique 1920s Hand Crafted Folk Art Bug Brooch This incredible brooch was handmade and is an antique piece, most likely from the 1920s. It is a brooch, but unfortunately, the brooch/clasp bit takes a lot of effort to close. It could be however, be replaced or converted to a pendant or something similar. The intricate wire wrapping technique is an ancient form of jewelry making that experienced a significant revival during the Victorian era and again in the mid-20th century. The coiled metal work for the body is a common feature in this style of costume or art jewelry. The bug features a large red glass bead for the main body and a smaller black glass bead for the head. The legs and coiled sections are made from a metal wire, likely brass or a gilt base metal.
