Beautifully detailed netsuke featuring a dragon wrapping himself around two Asian figures, a woman and child. The woman has an instrument in her hands. There appears to be a tiny indentation on the inside of the instrument. Certainly an odd location for damage and smooth, so probably original. Nettsuke are functional toggles used to secure items to a kimono sash. Cream-colored with brown & red tones highlighting the intricate designs of the woman’s kimono and the dragon’s scales. A lovely netsuke, it was on display at The Dragon Dreams Museum in Chattanooga, TN. The museum closed permanently in 2016, and I recently purchased the contents.
