The 1991-1995 (1993) 50th Anniversary of World War II Commemorative Silver Dollars were released by the United States Mint in 1993 to mark the 50th anniversary of the United States involvement in World War II.
The silver dollar obverse shows U.S. Mint Sculptor / Engraver Thomas D. Rogers design of an American soldier on the beach of Normandy on D-Day (June 6, 1944). Surrounding the action scene are the inscriptions of D-DAY, JUNE 6, 1944, IN GOD WE TRUST, LIBERTY, 1991 and 1995.
On the reverse, an image of the shoulder sleeve insignia of Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force is shown along with a quotation from Dwight D. Eisenhower "I HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN YOUR COURAGE, DEVOTION TO DUTY AND SKILL IN BATTLE. WE WIL ACCEPT NOTHING LESS THAN FULL VICTORY!" Included as well are the inscriptions of DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, ONE DOLLAR, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mintmark.
