Authentic late 19th-century STAR Safety Razor set by Kampfe Bros., New York, pioneers of the safety razor and predecessors of GEM. This set predates GEM and Gillette.
Razor head marked "STAR SAFETY RAZOR" and "Kampfe Bros. N.Y. City" with U.S. patent dates from 1880–1887 and a British patent dated England March 8, 1887, placing manufacture circa 1887–1895 (not made in England).
Includes: original razor and handle, fitted case with blue interior, weekly blade holder, multiple wedge blades with star markings, blade storage compartments & Original powder container with approximately 3/4 full period shaving/stropping powder, included for display purposes only.
Condition: original antique condition, heavy age wear. Blades show rust, metal shows patina. Case has peeling, scuffs, and material loss; latch works, interior intact.
