A Tempting Bait Print by Arthur John Elsley (1861 – 1952). Original was a 1906 Oil on canvas.
Solid Oak frame measures 8” x 10” x 1.5”. Matting is 5” x 7. Photo opening is 3.5” x 5”.
It depicts a young boy holding out an apple to a pony, while hiding a bridle behind his back, watched by three girls and a collie dog.
Elsley was known for his sentimental, "chocolate box" style paintings of children and animals, which were very popular in the early 20th century.
Although the location is not specific, Elsley may have been inspired by the New Forest. The painting intentionally reflects the simple pleasure shared by children in the wholesome pursuit of outdoor life.
Clean and smoke free home.

@kissa60613 I did not take frame apart but it appears to be a coated paper print.
