Yes, you read that right– this is a "hair receiver". This vintage item was popular in the Victorian era (late 1800s) and made to collect hair from hair brushes, etc to later be used for stuffing or creating "ratts". This beautiful example is from Nippon and is made of ornately hand-painted porcelain with extensive gold gilt. It features a very elegant pattern with pink roses and light blue accents. Obviously, you don't need to start stuffing this full of hair, this can be used for a variety of purposes such as a trinket dish or simply for decoration. It's in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It only has some scuffing on the bottom. This is such a great piece of antique art for your decor! Also makes a great gift for people who love vintage, Japanese porcelain.
