Antique Hand Carved Bone Flower Teardrop Design C-Clasp Brooch

The piece is made of carved bone, possibly bovine bone, as indicated by visible striations under magnification which differentiate it from true ivory. It features an intricately carved sunflower motif within a teardrop or fan-shaped design, often described as having an elegant, antique, or Victorian/Edwardian style. The edge has decorative pierce work. These types of carved bone brooches are typically dated to the Victorian, Edwardian, or mid-20th century periods. Measures 2” x 1 1/4” and is in excellent condition.
