Amber Glass Duck Decanter - Karl Palda - This 1930s Czech glass decanter measures approximately 9" long x 3 3/4" wide x 6 3/8" high. It features a brass head that opens to reveal the spout and clear glass handles. There is a a tiny chip on the bottom (pictured). It would make great gift for a duck collector or an addition to a decanter collection.
These decanters are commonly associated with Austrian or Czechoslovakian (Bohemian) art glass from the Art Deco to Mid-Century Modern periods, with many pieces dating from the 1920s to the 1940s.
Materials: The body is hand-blown glass, while the head, handle, and spout are made of brass. The head serves as a hinged lid.
Maker: Karl Palda
Function: They are used as novelty barware, primarily for decanting and serving wine (claret) or spirits.
