World War II (WWII) era U.S. Navy "E" Award for Production pin. This award was presented to companies and their employees for "Excellence in Production" of war equipment. The "E" Award program ran from 1942 to 1945, with only about 5% of the companies involved in war work receiving the distinction. The pin was given to individual workers at the plants. The pin shown features a white "E" at the top, an eagle and ship emblem in the center, and the words "FOR PRODUCTION" on a banner at the bottom. Pin is made of sterling silver and marked as such on the back. These pins are considered valuable historical collectibles. Preowned.
