Vintage Chinese Porcelain Shard Necklace, Sterling & Pink Czech Glass

Vintage and antique hand-painted porcelain shard pendant, encased in sterling silver. I handmade necklace of pink Czechoslovakian glass beads and small sterling silver starburst beads. This unique shard is from China’s Ming–Qing Dynasty (1644–1912). Shards featuring people are considered rare, as they were originally part of broken cups, vases, or dishes, with only a small area showing hand-painted figures. During the Cultural Revolution (1970s), many hand-painted pottery items were broken and buried to hide old customs. After the 1980s, these shards were recovered and transformed into mosaics and jewelry. The pendant measures 2.12" in length including the bail and 1.25" in width. The necklace is 34" long and can be worn doubled. Finished with a sterling silver square toggle closure. A Vintique10 creation.
