PITH HELMET,HAT CAP, SAFARI HELMET OR SOLA TOPI SIZE 7 1/4 Vintage

This is the inside of a pith helmet, also known as a safari helmet or sola topi. The image shows: The hat's size, which is 7 1/4. A label indicating that the hat was "MADE IN INDIA." The helmet is a rigid, but lightweight oval-shaped hat that was originally made from the pith of the sola tree. Pith helmets were commonly worn by European military forces and colonists in tropical climates for sun protection.
