thecountrymouse @killig79 Hello I am so sorry for the late reply. Thank you so much for understanding. The width of the pants measures to be about 16 inches wide, laying flat, I’m unsure what the hip 40 would be but it definitely is not 40 inches wide laying flat.

thecountrymouse @killig79 OK I’m sorry. I just looked up the dimensions on the Madewell of Jean website for a size 28 and it does say it is 39 inches wide for the hips. I’m not really sure how they measured that if they mean all around, but that’s what the website is saying for the size.
