RARE set of 3 Delft Bricks! I only recently found the 2 smaller versions, ha! Quintessential Dutch floral vases! The floral pattern is bold, yet displays much of the Chinois influence of the centuries. These include the stylized tree peony and perhaps chrysanthemums. The base moldings are painted a solid blue, but with their wavy look, I want to describe them as subtle Taihu Stones. The Chinese Taihu Stones in Delft patterns reveal the flattering imitation of Ming pieces with the Dutch and other Euro artists not really understanding what they were, ha! Here and there, few in number are Japanese "karakusa" of arabesque curlicues. The top has cutouts for the flower stems in shapes of clover, diamond and rounds. This can be used for the purpose it was intended for, holding flowers or as a pencil holder or cosmetics brush holder, simply displayed as part of a collection or as a cachepot :-) MARK - pls. see PIC 5 SPECS - LARGE: about 6.5"L x 3.125"W x 3.625"H SMALL: about 4.5"L x 2.125"W x 2.125"H CONDITION - EXCELLENT! - no hairlines, cracks, chips or crazing - a few "frits" - kiln faults of missed glaze, glaze pops, grit, carbon spots, etc
