Made in Mexico Mexican 950 Silver and Pink Rhodochrosite Necklace/Clip Earrings

When I look at this set of jewelry, I am reminded by a cruise I took to Mexico. Stopping in Puerto Vallarta, you can step into a shopping area a short distance from the ship and peruse any number of local jewelry shops. If you go now, this is the type of jewelry you will spot in the windows - big, bold and beautiful! Crafted of 950 Silver (hallmarked as pictured) and embellished with tendrils of copper and brass, the pink cabs you see are rhodochrosite. Significance of the stone? Believe it or not, it is to attract a mate! The necklace is slightly curved and the best measurement I can get is 18" long; width at the widest part is about 1-1/4". Weight is a heavy 167 grams (about 5 ounces). The earrings are clips and measure 1-7/16" high x 13/16" wide. Combined weight of the pair is 22.4 grams. Condition of the entire set is wonderful but there is tarnish here and there that could use a light polish. An outstanding design that I am sure probably had a sticker price of $750+ for both pieces. Makers initials are VBV and there is no T-number or Eagle mark to tell me when this set was made. My best guess is the 1990s but I could be wrong. Craftsmanship such as this does not along often.
