MESMERIZING 1940's BROWN FELT HAT. AMAZING FULL VEIL + YELLOW/BROWN/RED FEATHERS

This is a show-stopper brown felt vintage hat from the fashionable 1940s'. This hat was purchased from a vintage store near Hollywood, CA that specialized in celebrity estate sales. It is a gorgeous tall, tubular shaped crown with a short brim. There is a large felt bow at the back. There is a spray of curly chartreuse/brown/ref feathers at the top front. One of the most stunning features about this hat is the intact heavy and full veil in a coordinating brown color. It can be worn covering the face, or tucked around the crown, as seen in the third photo. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. A size 22 1/2 label is attached inside the hat. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
