One showed up in my backyard a few months ago and never left . We built her a coop and bought her chicken feed etc. she’s very happy here.

dafox@tracigonzalez Yes, I had bunches of chickens in the past and my sister has some now. You can move her little coop in the garage, just be mindful of how hot it gets in there. Watch for panting. You can also freeze fruit in water in a plastic container so she can peck at it. Mine also loved watermelon. I just gave what was left on the refrigerated rind after eating it, not bunches of sweet fruit.

dafox@tracigonzalez just shared for today, sorry I’m running late! Glad your chicken enjoyed the watermelon. If you don’t have grit, that’s important to have. It’s just tiny pieces of rock really, but it helps them to digest their food in their crops. It helps to break up the grasses and things.

dafox@tracigonzalez It tumbles around in the crop, which helps break down food. Anyway you just put a little bit of that in a dish, separate from their food and they will eat some as needed. If she is laying, some free fed oyster shell is good too. 🐓

tracigonzalez@dafox we are getting a lot of rain. It’s very tropical rain. On and off light and heavy rain all day and night. No major flooding yet because we had only had 6 inches of rain this year so it’s soaking in really well. And since it’s on and off there is time for some run off and absorption. Hopefully it will pass before we get too saturated. Going to share back now . Thank you !

She’s a brown chicken and lays brown eggs. She’s been fun! I bought her a big pan I fill with water. When she gets hot she soaks her feet and cools off.. lol 🐓

dafox@tracigonzalez Sorry to be MIA. I had a Japanese Beetle fly down my ear when I was gardening. I didn’t know what kind of bug it was at the time, only that it was clawing at me and was down by my eardrum. It was awful!

dafox@tracigonzalez This kind of beetle can actually eat into your eardrum so I was so thankful to get it out. My ear is still sore, but otherwise ok. I just got a headache too, for some reason. I started to get on some and thought I got some shares in, but I didn’t comment so I must not have. 🤦‍♀️ I didn’t feel good last night. I shared extra tonight. So sorry! Thanks for all your shares!

And it looks like that hurricane 🌀 is going to be coming right at us. I see a few days of storm prep for me over the weekend if the track stays as predicted . I hope your chickens and kittens did OK through the fireworks. If the chicken is roosting in the coop she is likely to stay there. I always locked mine in every night anyway, so they always did OK. I’m concerned about that hurricane! Praying for you all!

It looks like we are getting lucky as of now. The hurricane 🌀 is now predicted to go in north of us around Corpus Christi or Houston. Fingers crossed 🤞 this one misses us . The shark victims are all recovering. Thankfully !! It has been 60 years since we had a shark attack at south padre.

We heard him crying late tonight and we had to remove some boards 😩 to get the kitty out. Kitty is now safe but tomorrow we will need to repair the deck & it’s so dang hot 🥵. Never a dull moment. tracigonzalezYay for your sales!! 🎊🎊🎊Shared in the kids party & with followers. We drove the cat to a 24 hr vet 30 miles from home. He was bleeding terribly from his mouth. It just came out of no where & started around midnight. Turns out he had an ulcer on the roof of his mouth and a cut on his tongue. I have no idea why but he seems to be recovering as expected. Thank goodness !! 😻

Hopefully not, but if I’m not on tomorrow, that might be why. At least we are not near landfall, but even this far away, we are expecting near tropical storm wind gusts. It’s going to impact multiple states. 🙏

dafox@tracigonzalez Yes, that hospital is not all that far from here. All the rivers are flooding, some at levels higher than ever recorded, which started in the 1800’s I believe. Thank you for the shares.

dafox@tracigonzalez The best news today was that the Nolichucky Dam which they had at code red, held and now waters are decreasing & they said the dam is stable. Had it broken it would have been catastrophic as the river was already flooding horribly (hospital flooding was from that river). Just shared!

dafox@tracigonzalez Thanks, just shared back in the same. Yes, the aftermath is horrible. 😭 The interstate between the NC/TN border won’t be fixed until September 2025. And I can’t remember the timeline for the other interstate. The vast amount of clean up and rebuilding will take years I think. 🙏

dafox@tracigonzalez They dropped the wind gust prediction to 45 mph so that’s a blessing. Right now it’s not bad, so I’m so grateful for that. People do crazy things. I think there must be some superstition thing because half the time a storm approaches someone goes out and shoots off two shots. 😳 Anyway, I’m hoping people won’t do fireworks but we will see! dafox@tracigonzalez We were fortunate and the storm’s most dangerous part turned slightly south. We just had a thunderstorm but the supercell did not hit us directly. I am thankful, but sadly, there were 2 tornados and a mother and child were killed. It’s very sad.

dafox@tracigonzalez We had high winds and rain yesterday. We are in a wet weather situation where they think over the next couple of weeks we could get around 8 inches of rain! We were just thawing out from the deep freeze so the ground wasn’t that dry to start so it could get messy!!! Right now they are not calling fur any severe weather for the week, but rain chances are high every day. I am heading further south to see family, but the rain may be here as well. 🤷‍♀️

dafox@tracigonzalez Thank you, I’m not worse, which I’ll take. Not snowed in here, but probably can’t head back home until Saturday as our drive way back home, which is on a slope, is iced over. I don’t trust the roads in between to be free of ice either. Since the interstate fell in the river during Helene, we have to take some curvy backroads through the mountains. Anyway, another day to feel more like traveling. Thanks for sharing. Shared some, more later.

But the high forecast tomorrow is 100 and we are under a fire warning. We will get a push of cooler weather preceded by windy conditions but from what I hear all the really bad weather will stay north & east of us.
