Frida Kahlo Art Pendant necklace.
From a painting she did In 1948, Frida's health condition has been deteriorating and this self-portrait is the only painting she painted in that year. In this portrait, she is wearing the traditional Tehuana costume which Diego Rivera admired a lot. But her lace ruff is taking up all the space and she seems to get trapped in there. Her face looks calm and emotionless but there are tears on her face. Her signature slight mustache makes her look more obviously masculine.
This painting was commissioned by her dentist and personal friend Dr. Samuel Fastlicht. Frida has been using her paintings to pay lots of expenses in her later years.
I’ve sized down the image and set it into a brass bezel under glass.
The pendant is 1” wide and 1”s long. The beads are vintage faux Japan glass pearls from the 1960s and some clear vintage pink crystals to match the colors in the image.
It is a short necklace like a choker and the chain is 18”s end to end and can be worn a little tighter as a choker. Or let it hang a little longer.
