*VINTAGE & ANTIQUE* SMF Schramberg Teapot

This whimsical teapot features vibrant hand-painted yellow and purple daisies on opposing sides, with a black spout and handle. Made by SMF Schramberg in Germany, it was lovingly used from the late 1920's to the early 1960's and has been a display piece since then. Makes a wonderful addition to a teapot enthusiast's collection, but can still be used functionally as a teapot. This nearly *100 year old* teapot is in very good condition with slight wear - there are no cracks and the hand-painting is in excellent condition. There are a few tiny “fleabites” on the rim of the spout, where the glaze has chipped, but they do not detract from the beauty of the teapot. Please see photos for condition. Dimensions: 10 inches long from spout to handle x 6 1/4 inches wide x 6 1/2 inches tall SMF Schramberg History: The pottery was established by Isidor Faist in 1820. Production was started in the Schramberg castle under the name Faist'sche Steingutfabrik. In 1829 Faist persuaded the Baron Ferdinand von Uechtritz to join him as partner. Steingut und Majolikafabrik Uechtritz & Faist built a new factory increasing output. The company in the beginning of 1880s started to produce more and more for Villeroy & Boch. Finally in 1883 V&B bought the Schramberg pottery. The company continued operation as a Villeroy & Boch subsidiary.
