2001 retail release. All orignal, factory stitching tackle twill by Champion.
This was Champion's last batch of officially licensed jerseys for the NBA, before their contact expired in 2000. Starter, Puma and Nike largely succeeded Champion, eventually settling with Reebok, league wide.
Noteworthy: Champion, did, however, continue to produce jerseys well ino the early 2000's. First there was infamous 'Euro Cut'. These monstrocities were of different materials (Sublimted Tricot Polyester) - but with one major difference: the jersey designs are distorted. Look closely and the fonts, spacing and logos are off kilter. They also changed the Jock Tag sizing to S M L vs 40 44 48. This was done on purpose, as the league allowed Champion to continue to sell in the EU so long as they tweak the design in the event that some of the pieces would make it into the North American domestic market. Euro Cuts continued to be made South Korea, where production already shifted from Mexico in 1999.
As for officially licensed pieces, Champion was contractually allowed to distribute any inventory they still had, after 2000. This is a stateside, retail authentic release - NOT a Euro Cut.
