Antique Circa 1930's
This is a traditional Victorian style morning brooch.
This is carved from the first plastic invented- Backelite.
Bakelite became the preferred plastic for jewelry makers and artists, and undoubtedly is the most coveted form by collectors.
Your Antique rotary phone is likely made from Bakelite.
By the time of the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, and certainly by the end of WWI, mourning jewelry had fallen out of favor due to changing cultural attitudes around death.
Many companies stopped using Bakelite in the early 1940s as the need for World War II related products took hold. By the end of the War, new technologies in the world of plastics had made Bakelite obsolete. The height of Bakelite jewelry was the late 1930s, up until the end of the Art Deco period.

@da222690 Yes, the friction and hot water smell test. Both pieces. I purchased off e-bay as antiques.
