buyitwhenfound @bennyblanco_jv excellent question. To answer, it’s like this… Louis Vuitton, ETRO Milano and Ralph Lauren all utilize something called “coated canvas.” Therein they diverge. For simplicity, LV uses monogram, ETRO uses Paisley, and RL uses Black Watch or a Tartan Plaid. In regards to Leather, LV and ETRO both use untreated Vachetta, and RL uses a very sturdy waxed cow’s leather.(more)

buyitwhenfound @bennyblanco_jv this bag in particular has leather across the entire top, from one end to the other- and does NOT employ the use of a zipper which often breaks. Instead, it has TWO LEATHER STRAPS and TWO BUCKLES. In the center is ONE LEATHER STRAP that is held in place by A LOCK AND 2 KEYS. Underneath the leather “beam” is a leather brace that reinforces the internal structure - much nearer the structure of a FENDI Boston Bag. (More)

Louis Vuitton does NOT have Pockets or Zipper pockets, and ETRO, Ralph Lauren and FENDI do. Whereas FENDI has Coated canvas ALSO, and Pequin Stripes, they also rely on leather like Ralph Lauren. Overmore, FENDI employs mesh inside the bags for organization as well. A technique none of the other three use. (More)

As, you may not be aware of their composition nor design. The leather in the bottom is a advantage OVER Louis Vuitton and prevents direct contact with the ground and deterioration of the canvas.
