Buyer BEWARE 99.9% of that VWestwood jewelry is FAKE!!

Vivienne Westwood

$777

Size

Not for sale

Like and save for later
I almost bought the abomination pictured above 🤦🏻‍♀️ It ALMOST fooled me until I did a thorough search.. Ladies and Gents, allow me to announce the phonies have nearly mastered the “art” of being completely FOS Before even considering that next VW purchase do yourself a much needed favor and RESEARCH point by point how to authenticate these THOROUGHLY These fakes are nearly 1:1 and they’re getting super crafty with these- it’s very hard to spot a fake when they are that close Check, cross check and check AGAIN when you get the item PRO tip- if it’s too good to be true, it IS Sadly most of those “affordable listings” are absolutely rubbish and completely counterfeit 🤬 PS- Do NOT go by merely markings (they’re really convincing) Instead, go search other platforms and compare I found the same necklace above for $20 on another platform (obviously fake but the seller wasn’t exactly hiding that notion there) and that was the bombshell that sank this battleship Once again, if it’s too good to be true, sadly it is And also, if its $19.99 elsewhere with the SAME markings- THAT is a HUGE Red (RED like the devils butt. lol) Flag!! PSS!!- It’s important to note that somehow AMBASSADORS (yeah- “trustworthy”) are selling this BS, in bulk, up & down PM (report them please) It’s only obvious when they have multiple listings without documentation/packaging & the fakes can be directly compared with verifiable fakes in Google search

noctiferi @poshpanther7 Thank you so much!! ❤️ I nearly fainted when I’d realized I’d just purchased a counterfeit and cancelled it immediately!! 😱
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @poshpanther7 I cannot believe I was almost duped SO easily because Ive collected her pieces for years & consider myself pretty well versed in spotting the tells. This one had all the proper markings and if not for ONE tiny detail they left out, it’s darn near identical!! I just want to make sure people know because there is far more of that available than the contrary. And now that sadly Vivienne is gone- opportunists will no doubt capitalize on all such things 😔
Dec 31Reply
chilinda
chilinda @noctiferi what was the one detail that was the “tell”? It could help a lot of people if you would share that and educate everyone. A warning is helpful but if you were almost fooled, what should the rest of us be looking for?
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @chilinda For this piece it was the small clasp attaching the orb to the safety pin. On the original, it is twice as pronounced and not just a singular loop. Otherwise however, I did notice the markings, although lining up with what one would look for & in the proper places, are sloppy compared to authentic. Almost as if there’s a slight blur to their font.
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @chilinda I am going to post all of the pictures for side by sides I’ve found. BUT- it’s important to note the phonies know about these and have matched the markings on MANY of them. Therefore one must scrutinize almost to a “Where’s Waldo?” Level to even spot the most minute differences. Ugh- in any case and by Golly! (lol) I will do my best to make sure to post everything I know so far and hopefully it’ll save others from making the same mistake I nearly did <3

mcatherinehorne Thanks for the heads up!!!!!
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @peruanita25 Me too! About two years ago, I got duped pretty hard- they had a “receipt” and everything!! Ever since I’ve kinda been in a rampage reporting them left & right.. yet lo & behold, they not only continue, but some as Ambassadors, get a PASS on authentication because they’re “trustworthy” (yeah, my as… um..foot. lol). That basically means they are enabled to sell counterfeit without even being monitored, which is completely unacceptable
Dec 31Reply
chilinda
chilinda @noctiferi wow. I’m looking for a certain bag for my daughter and it’s wild. So many of them have to be fakes. Price is a giveaway for sure. I don’t know her pieces that well so I am really grateful I saw your post before I purchased anything. Thanks!!!
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @mcatherinehorne You’re so welcome and thank you likewise for your interest!! Word needs to get around and it’s downright criminal for this shiz to continue, much less how despicably repugnant it is for people to jump on doing so in light of her passing.
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @mcatherinehorne It goes without saying how important she is to Alternative fashion and her real items are like treasure (especially now) It’s terrible that real collectors can only find but a needle in a haystack due to the over saturation of all these FAKES (basically 9 outta 10.. and that sucks!!)
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @chilinda Most definitely!! And it’s hard to find information on authenticating them. With newer bags, try to check her official website! I was pleasantly surprised to find the bag of just purchased & was able to concretely identify it (whew!! lol) She also has SO many available there that are super reasonably priced compared to resale (I was kinda shocked tbh) ❤️

peruanita25 @noctiferi maybe it's better to email poshmark directly to report. it's so frustrating seeing these "posh ambassadors" selling dozens of fakes a week to people who have no clue. this post is good. it will bring awareness, I should make a post too when I get more time.
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @loesha88 You’re so welcome and thank you so much for your interest!! ❤️
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @peruanita25 To be honest, I have done just that (regarding fakes I unintentionally got duped into) and although they were tremendously helpful with any and all Poshmark purchases, when it comes to actual pages selling nothing but fakes and etc.- they’ve done absolutely nothing and these ambassadors only rise in rank somehow, much less no longer being required to go through authentication w purchases over $500!! THAT is so unacceptable under any terms
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @peruanita25 Anyway they try to reason that by even ratings is questionable af and they are basically enabling counterfeit sales without consequence The buyer often never even knows and assumes it was AUTHENTICATED because as it shows on every listing- all purchases over $500 are supposed to go through authentication Most times they do however some Sellers are exempt from this- which is just absurd!!
Dec 31Reply
peruanita25
peruanita25 @noctiferi absolutely absurd I agree w you 100%
Dec 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @peruanita25 And most definitely!! You should totally do a post when you have time! There is SO much of this going on sites like this (every brand you can imagine), it’s crazy! And lots of times it even goes completely unnoticed!! The more people know what to look for, the less people will get duped
Dec 31Reply
poshpanther7
poshpanther7 @noctiferi The fakes are getting really good for so many items, so not surprised you almost got taken in. It’s just sad that so many people are willing to scam others and also that people are willing to tolerate the fakes as well because they are cheaper.

noctiferi @ashleeta You’re so welcome and thank you so much for your interest & appreciation!! ❤️ While I know it’s certainly not fool proof and a lot of the fakes are onto & beyond these tells depicted, I’m hoping at least it helps to sift out the worst of them and draws awareness to how serious the issue is- the fakes are far exceeding the provably authentic pieces
Jan 02Reply
ashleeta
ashleeta @noctiferi also I highly recommend Vestiaire all of their items get sent for verification by experts and if it ends up being fake they give you a full refund
Jan 02Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @ashleeta Thank you so much and that’s great to know!! I’ve seen a lot on there over time but wasn’t sure if they were entirely reputable because I’ve even caught fakes on sites like “RReal” before- which made me wonder.. Since then I’ve taught myself how to authenticate to the best I can, with the information available online of course, and to analyze things to the fullest in person. It’s saved me so many times, however not without getting duped in the learning process unfortunately. lol

Jan 04Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @ashleysea206 Oh absolutely!! I see it with Coach and Michael Kors all the time and even stuff one wouldn’t expect like skincare & MAKEUP (yes- bootleg af)- it never ends Conveniently these platforms just so happen to profit millions of dollars in the process and imagine that.. they look the other way Classic hustle corruption is alive and well and sadly, seemingly always will be. 🤷🏻‍♀️ lol

juliaedmonson20
juliaedmonson20 Thank you for this post. I personally have gone over it & screenshot each imperfection so that I pray this doesn’t happen to me. Another thing I want to mention is that people who lie about their fakes can & do purchase authentic jewelry bags & even the tags off real items to try to authenticate their fakes. So buyers beware. Thanks doll for your commitment to protecting all of us posh family members xo 😽 j
Jan 04Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @juliaedmonson20 You’re so welcome!! Thank you for your interest & appreciation also! ❤️ I feel like there’s so much more to mention (metals for example often times should be stamped to be real Silver, etc.). I’ve also experienced firsthand something in real packaging, w markings & with a receipt… which turned out to be a nicely packaged swap out fake (I felt SO duped)!! The rabbit hole goes deeep w VW & it’s crucial to be extra careful now more than ever
Jan 04Reply
ashleysea206
ashleysea206 @juliaedmonson20 exactly!! A seller has a bunch of new Chanel jewelry below $500 which is already a red flag. Then she sells counterfeit designer items (including Chanel) and claims she is always honest about which items aren’t real. 🤦🏼‍♀️ So she’s either getting duped by her source or she’s knowingly claiming the better quality counterfeits are authentic. I got blocked of course when I pointed out that no one has multiples of new Chanel jewelry priced under $500. FROM THIS SEASON.
Jan 04Reply
ashleysea206
ashleysea206 @noctiferi agreed! Someone said that even when an account finally gets “suspended” after 279 chances 😆 that pm doesn’t remove that account from the platform. Then it increases their numbers like we’ve had x number of new users this year. And stockholders love that bs, even though 75% of them are probably bots and scammers.

Jan 09Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @summerrosetta Hello and thank you so much for your interest! You are in for a treat & it’s story time (lol)- Vivienne Westwood (who sadly passed 12/29) was THE Matriarch of Alternative Clothing & a pioneer of Punk rock Fashion who was initially known back in the day (70s 80s) to have styled all the biggest & brightest in Punk and New Wave. She started the Neo Romantic/Pirate trends of the time also. (Cont.)
Jan 09Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @summerrosetta … It’s impossible to summarize her many achievements in 500 characters or less, but simply put & in a nutshell- she was the Mother of Alt Couture & the Lady that made safety pins high fashion. lol ❤️ RIP and all hail Vivienne Westwood ❤️
Jan 09Reply

noctiferi
noctiferi @jrfulgenzi Hello and you’re so welcome!! I know exactly what you mean about Alexander McQueen and sadly since his death, things sorta turned for the worst with respects to fakes Personally I stick to retro pieces by him from when he was still alive, but that certainly doesn’t eliminate running across numerous phonies in the process. I will probably do a piece on Alexander McQueen & thank you so much for the idea 💡
Jan 09Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @jrfulgenzi Ps- you are entirely correct! They should be made in Italy exclusively as far as I am aware
Jan 09Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @jrfulgenzi Actually some things are produced in Turkey (according to what I’m reading at the moment) as well, but that appears to be a move the company made after his death. Still researching but will do a proper write up once I have my info straight and in order. Thanks again!!

bellatrix2189
bellatrix2189 Thank you for posting this.Posh does an awful job on keeping counterfeits off of here. And even if something is sent to Posh hq,it doesn’t feel secure(they claim to use a reputable company that checks stuff for them yet they won’t let us know who that company is) . Like I also think it’s messed up that besides charging us 20% commission they also have us essentially moderate. When that should be their job since they make so much money off of us. but I’ve noticed so much fake stuff on this app.
Jan 22Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @bellatrix2189 You’re very welcome and thank you so much for your interest and for sharing perspective ❤️ I highly agree & have numerous concerns/questions regarding all mentioned. The 1 consolation is that in the broad scope of things, sadly all such trifles have become the norm & although pm isn’t exceptional in that regard, they still manage to pass as “better” than some of the alternatives for varying reasons and conveniences. (Cont..👇🏻)
Jan 22Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @bellatrix2189 … I’ve come to conclude that where there is resale, overall the majorities reek of sketch & shade (much less corruption) and it’s imperative to be one’s own expert on spotting the lies, fakes, etc, but to also almost EXPECT the bs too (which sucks). lol
Jan 22Reply
bellatrix2189
bellatrix2189 @noctiferi oh yeah, definitely. It just bothers me that Poshmark is it more transparent about certain things. But compared to like merc? Yeah I’d take posh anyday. But if I purchase something that’s over 500 on this site after I get it from them, I take it myself to get it evaluated. But D e p o p has the worst that I’ve seen so far. Like I ordered a top there once and got sent drugs. I was so confused. Apparently it was literally slang for the drug. I was horrified.
Jan 22Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @bellatrix2189 WOW!! I knew Merc was mild to moderately questionable from one experience ages ago, but holy shiz that’s absolutely mental and I had no idea things get THAT spun!! I’m almost afraid to ask yet can’t quite resist- like.. how does one go about such a dispute?? lol In any case that is by far the craziest resale tale I’ve heard yet and big ups for sharing (thank you ❤️)
Jan 22Reply
bellatrix2189
bellatrix2189 @noctiferi haha yeah honestly it was awful. I legit thought that I was getting this sailor moon shirt. Turns out it was slang for Molly. And I don’t do that stuff. I was excited about my shirt lol. Go to check my mail and I was like ??? Wtf where is my shirt?? so I send a message to the seller first and I was like you literally just sent me an envelope, like it was a padded bubble wrap, waterproof envelope, and it had a card in it,
Jan 22Reply
bellatrix2189
bellatrix2189 @noctiferi but I didn’t open the card and I was like you forgot the shirt and she was like oh no, your stuff is in the card. So I opened the card and I was like oh surely not. Surely not. And yeah, I messaged the seller and was like I legit thought this was a listing for sailor moon shirt. Apparently there were like code words in the listings?
Jan 22Reply
bellatrix2189
bellatrix2189 @noctiferi So I was like can you please just refund me and I’ll flush this but instead they wanted me to ship it back! I offered video of me flushing it too. and I was like hell no dude so I contacted d e p o p and their account got banned and I got my money back and flushed it 🤷🏻‍♀️. But no I’m not going to ship drugs to you lol. And the seller got like super rude and said I was a dumb ass and stuff but apparently it was certain words and tags so somehow I was supposed to know??
Jan 22Reply
thriftfounded
thriftfounded Thank you! I’m looking into the large crystal orb pendant necklace and it’s odd because I noticed on one listing one comment said it was fake because there was no engraving on the ring of the orb. Another commenter said she had an old version of it and it did not have an engraving. I’m not sure if I can tag you but I will try
Jan 23Reply

Jan 23Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @xmorganxorangex Hi!! You’re so welcome and thank you so much for your interest!! Ugh- I know that feeling all too well and unfortunately I’ve come to conclude that seriously.. MOST of it is entirely faaaaaaake!! These mofos are slick too! I mean, the markings are all there so these “moderators” that oversee such issues often render counterfeits “authentic” by means of basic checklist and majority of fraud goes completely unnoticed. (Continued..👇🏻)
Jan 23Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @xmorganxorangex When it comes to Jewelry and resale, after 3 bad experiences, I’ve all but sworn off resale when it comes to ANY high end/Designer purchases. The only exceptions being indisputable proof beyond doubt, which entails all original packaging and preferably verifiable receipts. Just not worth the risk when we all can just as easily buy the fakes they do if that’s what we wanted (for MUCH cheaper no less) however that is clearly not the case. (Continued..)
Jan 23Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @xmorganxorangex With the orb, my best advice is this rule of thumb I’ve acquired- if you see more than one and they’re all the same, all without boxes, etc- they’re probably fake ALSO these sellers with multiples of the same stuff- dead giveaway
Jan 23Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @xmorganxorangex If be happy to look over anything and by all means, please share! I’m to the point where I’m tempted to not only put these Ambassadors on blast by name, But pm itself by holding them accountable and proving this is all being done knowingly (pretty over their bs)

iamahemingway @noctiferi I have accessories that I purchased at her London boutique from approximately 15 years ago. They have come in the grey dust bags.
Jan 31Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @iamahemingway I never said they were and the above information is generalized (by someone else online originally. What I believe they meant to point out is that the grey bags are more commonly used with fakes. However in any case I’ve seen fakes with both, boxes, etc… even fake receipts from, wait for it.. the London boutique. The rabbit hole never ends and at the end of the day, I’m jot here to patrol- only to inform
Jan 31Reply

iamahemingway
iamahemingway @noctiferi Agreed. Thank you for clarifying! What’s also disturbing are the amount of fake luxury fragrances! People don’t know what they’re putting in their skin. The largest organ of the body!
Feb 01Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @iamahemingway That is SO TRUE!!! 😱 Alarmingly so in fact! And adding even further to that mess, the fake cosmetics and skincare absolutely freak me out for the same reasons!! There is SO much of that in resale; things & brands I had NO idea were even faked much less so widespread. If you go down the lines of possibilities categorically- it just never ends and pretty much anything and everything has a bootleg or copycat out there. 😑

levittalfa
levittalfa Great info. I do want yo say that in photo 3 you show a jewelry dust bag in a gray that may be a fake but the older jewelry bags do look like that, I’ve got many. When she sold individual charms for the bracelets each charm came in a dust bag that looks like this. The newer merch does come in the natural colored drawstring pouch. Just wanted to share that as to not mislead people to think items with those bags are always replicated copies.
Mar 27Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @levittalfa Absokyteky correct and thank you. I have pointed this out previously, however to reiterate, these are just base references and they are stipulated as “one of many examples”.. etc. I didn’t create the imagery above, just using for reference and sorry for any would be confusion. (Continued below)
Mar 27Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @levittalfa You are absolutely correct and older bags resemble both examples above, however it’s most important to note those are the most used with fakes, even if the bags are in fact real (in some cases). These crooks go so far as to use authentic packaging and even real receipt copies, only to be paired with the lowest grade fakes.

glamraqui
glamraqui @chilinda If the seller is too thirsty- if you have real Vivienne Westwood people come to you - if they are bombarding you with offers it probably isn't real. If you ask them if it is authentic and they are cagey -plenty of people will lie but if they are trying to cover themselves by saying they "can't find the receipt" or It was from a Christmas Sale (VW doesn't have sales) or "I think so" it is definitely not real
May 05Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @glamraqui I totally agree!! And furthermore, when they have 100s of the same items over and over again, much less not with the original paperwork somehow… it’s just fake - It’s not like they sell wholesale or new items would somehow be missing ALL the crucial tagging and packaging. They’re despicable because they will just lie even when caught and sites like this do nothing about them because they are profiting too much.
May 06Reply
noctiferi
noctiferi @glamraqui They try to cover their tracks and delete something stupid but don’t do anything about counterfeits or used underwear (like USED- no shade just NOT the place for that) problem they deny exists yet is shown on YouTube… resale is a dirty business. All puns intended 😂
May 06Reply
glamraqui
glamraqui @bellatrix2189 whatever bot they are using also identifies real things as knockoff Miu Miu sunglasses in particular- I have had to write them about the same pairs multiple times after they have taken them down because of a "zero tolerance policy" and say really? I have sent you the receipt from Nordstrom and you can see the serial number in the photo
May 06Reply
glamraqui
glamraqui @noctiferi Oh yeah I know the King Ring is super rare a consignment shop here told me he had only ever seen 3 but we are supposed to believe that these hausfraus somehow have 20. But to there credit some people are that stupid and greedy- I see people in the comments asking is it real and if can I get it for $50 No B*tch you can't get a real VW for $50 get your head examened

moshimoshi808 I'm so sick of the fakes I could scream! isn't it illegal to do this? I am pretty sure that it's against PM policy, why isn't Poshmark catching these? it's not like there's only a few.Any way, thank you for your diligence and putting up this post. I hope it gets seen by many people.

bellatrix2189 @jahmariposa yeahhhhh. It was horrific to open the dispute. Like uncomfortable. And the ss’s. I was just nostalgic and thought I was getting a cute shirt. I had look up what was in the envelope but the whole situation was embarrassing. But I don’t use that platform now anyways because it’s kids reselling fakes or shein. I’ve gotten to the point even on posh I won’t list some designer stuff after they said my very real Chanel necklace was fake even when I sent the receipt. 😐
