In good condition without any cracks or chips. It seems to be made of metal with a ceramic inner and a wooden handle. It does not seem to whistle when ready, but it's been a long time since I've used it and don't remember for sure. The diameter of the lid is about 5.5" and the width of the kettel is about 7". Or about 9.5" including the spout.
