Thai “Princess Ballerina” rings were originally created to represent headpieces worn by dancers in Thailand. This 14k yellow gold, “minor cut” diamond and sapphire ring was purchased in Bangkok, Thailand in the 1960’s.
Minor cut diamonds were the earliest form of the brilliant cut, which means the diamond was cut to sparkle even under the dimmest candlelight of the era. Old mine cut diamonds have a smaller table, higher crown and larger facets than modern cut diamonds. This sparkling estate ring is made up of 6 rows of gems: 3 rows of miner cut diamonds are nestled in between 2 rows of sapphires, and the 6th row is topped with a solitaire sapphire. Total miner cut diamonds are approximately 1.5 carat weight and total sapphires are approximately 1 carat weight.
The ring weighs 8.64 grams.
The ring is size 7.
The ring is in excellent condition.

@ladyamalthea171 , Thankyou for shopping my closet, and for your interest in my Diamond and Sapphire Ballerina Estate Ring. It is a rare and beautiful piece, my father brought home from Thailand while he was a soldier in Vietnam in 1968. Please let me know if I can answer any questions. @Nosilla61
