#9 True VICTORIAN Child's SILK SATIN BODICE / JACKET w Original MoonStar Buttons

Royal Blue VICTORIAN Sapphire Blue Clild's Silk Satin Bodice in truly amazing condition. A couple of small slightly discolored areas & slight underarm stains is all I find. 18 Original Blue & Steel Crescent Moon & Stars Buttons remain & all seams appear to be intact. No tears, splits, or shattering discovered. Laid flat approximate measurements: Shoulders 13" Waist 10.25" Underarm/Bustline 13.25" Sleeve at outside/ 19.5" The sleeves are elongated & have a bit of a bow or crook in them appropriately 12-13" down from the shoulder. I believe that the design is intended to be pushed up above the elbow creating a gathered effect. This unusual design may be transitional to the return of Gigot / Leg-of-Mutton sleeves of the 1830s which were very gathered and voluminous above the elbow becoming fashionable once again. If my supposition is correct, this unusual piece - children's items in-and-of themselves are very difficult to find - is made more valuable by being transitional, in fact the design utilized may make this garment one of a kind!
