the ring is stainless steel not sterling silver.
I didn't look to see if they were hallmarked 317, I'm in the hospital but I'll call my daughter to see if it is stamped. Also my daughter has allergies to metal's so she can only were gold, 925, 317, surgical steel or have a platinum or Rhodium Overlay. I'm just telling you about my daughter because she wears this ring as well & it doesn't bother her. I hope that isn't confusing
