The turn of the century, heavy gilt paint is cracked & chipped and also appears to have been repainted. The gesso is missing in some areas especially the bottom corners, that’s why I know it’s gesso- (a molded white plaster. The original silk lining is shattered, pulling apart at the folds & creases. The bottom pleather is cracking off. It has most of the original label ‘Austrian Court Boxes’ with the double headed eagle in a shield.
