mozzafiato1@nic2700 friendly comment as a jeweler. Sterling silver is 92% silver. And yes it will discolor over time but it is easy to clean. Just buy the product neverdull from Wal-Mart. Cost 5 bucks will last you years. Do not use on any jewelry with stones/diamonds.
