lillithkillethLet's see.. I usually expect to wear an L in junior's size bottoms, like Forever 21 type stores, Charlotte Russe, etc. But the mediums were actually my preferred fit in these ones, I wear an 8/29 in shorts. BUT if you (or he) is concerned with age appropriateness, the length increases as the sizes so up--I can check specifically if you like--and maybe a looser fit would be more modest. But in general I don't recommend sizing up actually, they don't run small.

lillithkilleth@nutters Hi, the measurements given are the waistband of the shorts, which does have quite a bit of stretch. The rise is 9". The max hip size I would recommend for small would be about 38".

lillithkilleth@srippy8921 XL's are back in stock today, but I was only able to track down two pairs in this size! However, I can't speak from personal experience about fit in this case. M fits me well as usually an 8, probably a 10 or 12 would do well with the large, and working upwards 14 to 16 seems to be a decent guess for XL. If there are any additional measurements I can give, let me know!
