pegasus1221 Tanzanite comes only from Tanzania. Zoisites come in different colors including a type of Tanzanite, but comes from many different places. But Zoisites are gems.

misdemina Tanzanite IS Zoisite. Just like Ruby and Sapphire are both Corundum, and like emerald and morganite are both Beryl. Different colors of the same stone. Zoisite can be green, blue, purple, orange, brown, etc. Tanzanite is a trademarked name from the Tiffany company, btw, who owns the only active tanzanite mine. Really it's purple-blue zoisite and that color has only been found in Tanzania so far. That "EGL" certificate number does not pull up anything.
