meg23 So excited for you!! Where are y'all moving?? If I was close by, I'd come help pack! (It's all still fresh on my brain! Honestly I still have boxes packed!)

proverbs_31 @meg23 Thanks! It's a few towns south of where we are now, still in Massachusetts but on the border of Rhode Island. It's a foreclosure, in need of a total rehab. Really nasty right now, but I'm so excited for our renovation vision to be a reality!

proverbs_31 @meg23 Over an acre of land, with decent privacy, and a pool. The pool is also disgusting right now, basically a frog pond. I'm relocating the frogs and tadpoles to nearby pond. We're scheduled to close in Sept, and hoping to have enough done (at least the kitchen, 1 bathroom and 1 bedroom done) to move in November. 🤗🤗🤗

meg23 Oh that sounds like a great deal! Renovations can be a pain too but it's fun because you can make everything exactly how you like it! And you'll love having land and privacy, not to mention a pool!

meg23 Especially purge! I decided if I didn't love it, it didn't go with me! And although it made it a headache on the front end, I tried to do my purge as I packed (packing stuff I didn't want separately in boxes for posh and a rummage sale my mom is having), so that way I didn't have to sort as I unpacked

meg23 My favorite packing tip was to use garbage bags to pack bundles of clothes still on their hangers. Made packing and unpacking my closet super easy!

meg23 Also if you have the room at both your old and new house, a friend of mine found a company that lets you rent a big storage container (the size of a small portable building) for weeks or months. They bring it to your current house, you can load stuff in it at your own pace (packing up over weeks), then on moving day they transport it to your new house, and you can keep it another couple weeks to pack at your leisure. They can also store it off site if necessary at any point

proverbs_31 @meg23 Thanks for the great ideas and advice! I've started packing, and making a donation/sell/purge pile, but I have a long way to go! It can be overwhelming to think about designing the new house, planning, doing a lot of the work ourselves, plus also the normal packing, purging, and moving! Then unpacking and settling in. Ugh! But it will bee great when we're done and settled.
