Hi guys I just wanted to let you guys in on a something that happened to me recently. I had an item on here for sale and a woman offered me a fair price. she asked to send a cashier's check. I got the check and instantly knew it was fraud... I got legal advice and she is being investigated. her goal was to get me to fall for stealing $1000, but she would end up with the money and my item!i just wanted to post this so you guys are aware, stay safe my fellow bees!😞(DO NOT DEPOSIT DO NOT DO NOT)

Thank goodness I am smarter to see that her check and her shipping address were different. she actually ended up "accidentally" sending me too much money to wire back to her. that info was different than the shipping address, and the check as well. how stupid does she think i am!

That's good that you caught that, though! To be honest, I find that to be sad. I pity her. The desperateness of some people that end up doing this sh.it to other people who need the money. lisssaluvyaWas it a 1000$ item?! Why would they send a cashiers check? Lol what was her reason for even asking? I'm curious to know exactly what they are doing!! Yeah, if you had cashed that and got money from the bank they would make you pay them back or you would be on this list and wouldn't be able to open any new accounts anywhere in the country because you would be on the bank fraud list if you didn't pay the bank back in full.

lisssaluvyaSomeone did this to a friend of mine.The check fooled the bank.They gave her 800$ then called days later saying she had a week to pay it back or they would file a case and put her on that national fraud list so she could not open any bank accounts anywhere! Most ppl don't even know that this exists, but there is a national database! sadly even victims like you are on it because the bank can't tell if you are really a victim or a part of the scam! Out of curiosity what was she trying to buy?

I think she wanted to get the item as well but i'm in a personal finance class and my dad and mom are very good business people so we had no problem figuring out right away what her plan was so there was no way i wasn't going to be able to catch her bs. i was literally taught about people like her😂

I noticed on my higher price items that i always instantly get "users" asking to buy such items off poshmark. Those are the ONLY comments that get deleted on poshmark...and they usually get deleted quickly. theyre "career criminals" and some are craftier than others

I know there are a couple legit money wiring apps too, like ven-mo... so checks are a dead giveaway of scammers. I feel like companies and freelancers use services like ven-mo to help reduce check scammers too(i cant even type the v-word without a hyphen... thats how protective poshmark is! U go poshmark! Lol

I work at a high-paced clothing boutique in soho, nyc (prime target for scammers & con artists) ive gotten real good at spotting fake credit cards (especially now that we have chip cards) and shady behavior. I also have my bachelors in psychology amd 15 years experience working with troubled kids heading down the path of career criminals lol.

If someone REALLY wants your item, they just buy it here or ask list it on Ebayyy or another platform with less fees. Outside of those options.. its a scam in my eyes

I went to a check cashing place and they told me the check was not associated with any bank whatsoever! Thank god I didn’t ask them to hold it for ten days! jellybeanjody2@lindsey_107 sounds like the same lady. My boyfriend sister went through something similar outside of Poshmark. Some person emailed her that he needed help around the house and that he would pay her $800 before she started. She got a cashiers check for $3000 and he included in the envelope instructions on how to deposit it and to give him the rest back it was super shady because it said deposit in YOUR bank account.

lanawinston@jeanne_nichols this is happening to me on like almost every listing I put up this week. I report it on Poshmark then I go to the users page and report them. One person was txting me and I told “her” I was a detective and she just ignored me and send me a tracking number on a cashiers check. I work at a police station for the Judge. I’m going to talk with them as soon as I receive it. This is unreal. No transactions off Poshmark ! That’s not the point of the app ! Scammers ruin everything.

doreenheckman@lessaryk just don’t cash the checks, they will be way over the price for the item they want to buy. They’ll tell you a story of sending you the wrong amount and ask if you could cash it and send them the difference back. It will eventually bounce and you’ll owe the bank they money while they run with your real money😅

Same stuff too much money wanting me to send it to her "daughter" I told her to stick it that I knew I was being scammed and never heard from that person again. Person goes by Grace Kally. My security team said it's a scam, deposit the check and there's no money and you are on the hook for all of it.

Instead of saying “No thank you, I only do deals on Poshmark” I emailed her. She ended the email with God Bless so I felt safe. I sent her my address. I cannot sleep at night. Thinking someone is going to break into my house. Today, a FedEx delivery came with the check for $2,000.

I am to deposit the check & send the remaining back. Second buyer is sending me $850 & claims her daughters in the hospital, the remaining money will be sent back for her hospital bills. nicole_pop@aletaf i would recommend not sharing any personal information, people can sell your personal information to companies and so they can send you advertisements... etc. It all sounds like a scam to me for sure! I would respond and say I am uncomfortable with that, and strictly sell through poshmark's purchasing process only. If they are authentic they will buy through here!

cjburrrrAlso, they'll ask you to delete your listing post so that you can't track the original comment. If you already sent info through email I suggest you screenshot the email correspondence and make sure to delete the message where they can get to your contact info. It's not going to cancel out what info they already have but at least it's not longer accessible. I'm pretty sure the scammers are doing multiple scams and most likely might even forget your case (hopefully)
