I'm only doing this because I was sold a ruby woo lipstick that was promised authentic & it's not. I made these pictures on my own to show the difference, I have a real & the fake next to each other to compare. The give away is when the real caps don't fit on the other one, all Mac caps are interchangeable. Also fake ones are fatter than real ones & shinier (see 1st pic). Be very careful & aware of these sellers. If you're not too sure, please feel free to ask me.

kris11842@gpjewels This does apply to all MAC packaging with its shine, if you compare a fake with the real one the letters and color of the black is much shinier on the replica. It’s not only on the lipsticks but all items. Also, look more closely at the font face of the letters. Not all serial numbers and barcodes will be the same but they will always have the same font style on the authentic ones. Which is kind of thin and a bit slanted on the style. Hope that helps!

platfitbarbieI got an amplified blackety. I have a bunch of amplified blankety and they are all the same cool toned shade. But this one swatched peach like peachstock and it's batch code is clear engraving. Made in Belgium. Really confused.

kris11842@mariagotera It's so annoying honestly. All of my Mac products in my closet are 100% authentic, I wouldn't want to get a fake item so I would never sell one. That lipstick went straight to the trash after I took pictures. Never use counterfeit items, they have cancerous ingredients in them!

kris11842@mariagotera Yes. I paid $15 for it and it's $17 in the store, I would rather have put in another $2 just to secure the fact that it was authentic rather than take a risk. I was so annoyed when I got it. As soon as I opened my package and looked at the box I was so pissed. I can tell a replica from a mile away just by looking at the box, sure enough I opened it and there it was! Fake!

I wanted to mention a good way to tell is the smell, Mac has that sweet vanilla scent. Unless they are faking that now too. The fskes are getting harder to spot Great closet btw

At least I'll get my money back. It's getting out of hand. Even fake benefit, limecrime, ABH, kvd, too faced, naked palettes etc they're so desperate to make a buck these companies like have a seat please

macaddicton@kayvall3 , definitely get it out of the trash, I know it belongs there, but if they want it returned. You'll need it ..you'll get refunded, Poshmark customer service is the bomb. And I agree on the prolific amount of brands being faked, its really bad. Even Ben Nye Banana Powder. I swear. I even noticed Mac Wadh and Dry collection is being faked now.

katwynne@kayvall3 Yes! I received a fake tube of Benefit mascara, and thought it seemed different, but didn't really notice it was fake until I went to wear it. It left a mess around my eyes, and never fully dried. I then tried to put the top of the real mascara onto the fake, and it didn't fit! The stickers on the bottom of the tube were different, too. It was so disappointing. SMH.😟

kris11842@katwynne Yup! The best way to also tell fake Benefit mascara when you open it, the rim will be the same color as the tube. The real benefit mascara rim is just plain black. And also the fake one has a really bad smell. Like it burns your nose really bad. It's really hard to tell with Benefit products though so I don't blame you. Also the fake benefit mascara the tube is more purple metallic it's supposed to be pure silver metallic.

It sucks because these were going to be my first Anastasia lipsticks. Anyway I just figured it is safer to buy full price from somewhere I trust like the company's website or Sephora or Ulta.

I as well purchased a fake Anastasia Contour Palette & couldn't tell if it was authentic or replica because I've never owned one before but @colleenannh helped me and told me it was a fake and she knows her stuff she works at Sephora so I was glad to know because I almost listed it for sale on here!! I bought a MAC lipstick through a user and did the cap trick to find out it was fake. she even promised it was 100% authentic! is there anyway possible the cap size varies throughout the MAC collection? kris11842@swright49 I've returned something through posh without the original packaging and it was OK. You have enough to go off of which is completely fake lipsticks. Did she state in her listings they were authentic? Does she have a username?. I searched that name but a lot of people came up. If you can type her complete username but leave out the @ that would be helpful. And don't worry it happens to everyone honestly. I'm sure posh will favor your refund
