This is my 84 yr old mother-in-law sitting at her 175 yr old loom in the basement making some remarkable rag rugs. I'll tell Ya, these rugs will last & wear a lot longer than anything you could buy in a store & the colors you can choose from. She has solid colors and marbled colors. She makes a wonderful product that you will be happy with for years to come & they're hand made with love. I will be posting some of these on here. Any questions ask, I will try to answer or get one for you.😀

I guess doing what she loves💙 Is keeping her young and helping to feel like she has a purpose 😍 My mother is soon to 83 but she can't do much of any Thing, I think she kinda lost her purpose slowly when my dad died and all 7 kids grew up and left😢 I'm really happy your mother in law is still doing what she enjoys!! cccookeze@arsbars She's my mother-in-law not my grandmother. She learned how to make rugs on this loom as a kid so when she got married she brought the loom with her from VA. She made these rugs along with home made candy at Easter and sold them thru the years for different things. To help pay for grandkids braces, a bus for a missionary group, trips for her daughters to go to different parts of the world thru missionaries.

cccookeze@arsbars it's been a big part of her life. Now since the kids are all grown she weaves them for pleasure, to raise money for her church or anything else she can help with & to keep her busy. She still makes candy once in a while but making these rugs, tending to her many black raspberry plants & rhubarb plants & to make jellies, jams & pies makes her the happiest now. She has so many of these rugs I told her I would try to sell them on Poshmark so she decided to let me try, to see what happens.

profashionalnycOh my! What an amazing woman! I hope I'm not being rude but is she comfy down there, and does she enjoy it? The wooden seat with no backing would kill me and I'm 30! My grandmother was a seamstress when she came here, and she still uses her sewing table at 81! But I guess I'm spoiled with padded rolling chairs and open loft space when I design things, I always try to make her comfy but she is set in her ways with her set up. Lol

profashionalnycGod bless them, I tell ya. I always take a step back and admire how strong they are. I get faint just with the idea of doing some things the old fashioned way! Lol I hope your mother in law loves doing what she does and is very comfy and happy. At this age, they deserve every bit of happiness and whatever brings content to their hearts. When I'm 84, I want to be as strong and active as your mama in law. God bless!

cccookeze@profashionalnyc Yes she loves doing these things & is very comfy even on that old wooden bench. She sits there for hours weaving these rugs with no complaints. Yes, if I didn't have my lumbar support chair that will fill up with air where needed I'd be crying sitting there, but then again anything to do with an answering machine, computer or new wave thing she doesn't understand and refuses to learn. Lol.

My mom is 84 and still crochet (although not as fast as she used to be 😊), but it's wonderful to see her use her skills and keeping busy. She made two blankets for her grandson (my nephew) this year and gave to him as a house warming gift! He loves them 😊...they just don't make people like this anymore! ❤️❤️❤️
