Hi! I'm Cherie. Born & raised in Morristown TN. I've been on Poshmark for about 3 years now. I'm a stroke survivor; I had a stroke when I was 32, I'm 34 now and am still recovering. I had a brain AVM, (Arterioveinous Malformation) which is a birth defect on my brain that ruptured, causing the stroke. I was paralyzed on my right side & had to re-learn everything. So many beautiful ladies here encouraged me to stay strong & keep fighting. I want to say thank you for that❤️

I just passed my board exam like 2 weeks before my, "incident". I jokingly say that all of that stress studying for it caused it to happen, haha. Gah...I was one stressed out girl because everybody kept telling me that they failed it 2 or 3 times but I passed on the first try! Talk about excited! I'm doing a little better, thank you for asking :) Just have no energy and am gaining weight like crazy from not being able to get around very good, blah! They are talking about scheduling my surgery for sometime in October...not looking forward to that at ALL...but at the same time I just want to get it over with! Stupid birth defect...haha! I was going to Dollywood (theme park) and I knew my hair would be wet from the rides and then go POOF from the frizzyness...hence the braids and hat, hahaha, but thank you, my dear!! That's probably the only time I've worn a hat in years. As far as the surgery, they mentioned the 21st but nothing is set in stone yet...I have to pay a very large deposit so I guess it depends on if I have the money or not...blah!

I'm just a PRN at work and since I just took my board exam 2 weeks before...I hadn't got switched over to full time yet, even though I worked full time hours. Major suckage. The helicopter ride alone is $25,000, not to mention being in ICU and in the hospital for a month...and now I have to pay for the surgery somehow. They gave me figures today on the phone for the price of the surgery and I'm pretty sure I peed a little. Totally kidding, but I about died!!

I have to have brain surgery. I had a stroke recently due to a brain AVM which is a birth defect where the blood vessels are all tangled and they eventually rupture...and yeah well, mine ruptured. Didn't have a clue that anything was wrong with me. The stroke left me paralyzed on my right side but I'm doing much better now!

cherie_candice@misspilar I had to learn how to walk again and how to move my hand/arm again. After lots of physical therapy, I can walk with a leg brace...I look like Forrest Gump, haha! I couldn't walk at all when I came home from the hospital. Had to learn how to write again which is coming along with practice, still sloppy but now readable😀

vgoshenWell thank you Honey for the prayers as well!! My back will never be the same. I have a neurostimulator implant in my back. It never has worked for me. As bad as it is and as much pain as I'm in most days, I can NOT imagine the horror of what you've gone thru! That's some scary S***!!! Does having the surgery mean that everything is better and that you won't have another stroke? Omgosh, I feel terrible just saying it! I swear, no one would ever look at you and think you've ever even had a bad hair day. Lol, I know what you mean about the braids and the hat when the hair gets wet!! That's the same trick I use! Now with my back problems, I have the perfect excuse to stay off of the wet and wild rides!! Anyways, I love your closet!😍 I wish I had seen it about $200 ago!! But there's always next payday, right?😂😂 I'll check back in soon. In the mean time, take care of yourself! cherie_candice@vgoshen Lol! A foot massage is a great idea! Haha! It has all been very scary...especially since I have been very healthy my whole life, or so I thought. I just woke up one day and was paralyzed on my right side. I am just so thankful that I can now walk again. My Neurosurgeon said that the brain mass can still take up to 3 years to heal completely and there's only a 4% chance of me having another stroke so that's not bad. I am just sooo glad the surgery is over. I was scared to death!! The only kind of surgery I've ever had before this was getting my wisdom teeth cut out so I was freaking out! Lol. I hate to hear about your back problems :( and I hope that you don't have to go through any more surgeries! We are too young to be dealing with all of this mess, hahaha. Oh and you are gorgeous, by the way! Thanks so much for your purchase tonight. It is so much appreciated! I hope you have a good night as well, sweetie!💕

moonbunnytooHave you tried water aerobics? It's supposed to be great for people with limited joint mobility or are recovering from injury. The low impact and light weight feeling in the water is great ... Until you have to get out of the pool 😜

cherie_candice@moonbunnytoo I need to do that, one of the physical therapy places here offers that but I have been paying $75 an hour for physical therapy and it's just way too expensive! Maybe when the pools open up, I can try something there...or maybe that's a great excuse to put a pool in my backyard! 😃

just_poshing_2Sleep Center?! Can I fly my husband to TN?? He refuses to believe he has sleep apnea just like his sister. She sleeps with a mask on so I guess my husband doesn't want to do that so he refuses to go to our sleep clinic. Ugh!!! His snoring gets so bad even my puppy leaves the room half way thru the night. Well, my puppy did leave till my husband I think taught her how to snore now they both rest easy and I wake up double cranky lol. The masks do take some getting used to but most of my patients who actually give it a chance, love it now because they say how much better they feel during the day. cherie_candice@bellanblue I had a brain hemorrhage which caused me to have a stroke and was paralyzed on my right side. I couldn't walk for about 4 months but am getting around a lot better now. I have a brain AVM which is a birth defect that I didn't know about. I had brain surgery but the mass in my brain is still there, they said it could take up to 3 years to go away and I am at a high risk of it bleeding again until it is completely gone. They say the high altitude can make it bleed again so they don't want me to fly :/ I am very lucky to be alive and if I do have another hemorrhage, I may not be so lucky the next time...so, I may not be able to make it to Poshfest😕 Just commented here instead of on your listing :)

tippiejaxOh, my dear beautiful young woman. I can't even imagine how friggin' scared you were when you had a stroke, and then BOOM birth defect & surgery. (I just got caught up with all the posts on this thread). I PRAY you have a supportive family. And I can see why you would have so many fears about brain surgery!! I had my jaw discs replaced & even that freaked me out. I work PRN as well. I get it--the out if this world cost, but needing the surgery so bad. People on Medicaid get more assist then those of us who want to work, but fall on Hard luck and don't qualify. It's mind boggling. All I can say is God speed. I will be checking back with you. Keep us all posted. People (including myself) really care. You are going to be a powerful survivor!!

But, I made it!🎉 I always thought that I was as healthy as anyone else, never knew about the birth defect until after the stroke. My family has been amazing and very supportive. I am so thankful for that. I am doing much better and have came such a long way. I still only have 30% feeling in my foot/leg, so I still can't drive. I am back to work now, finally! But not working many hours since I'm a PRN. And yes, the medical bills are ridiculous! I am so sorry that you have to live each day in pain. I hate that so badly for you. Thank you so much for your kind words. Us survivors have to stick together💜

karwarrenI'm new also to posh. I'm also on medical leave after I almost died in a car accident 3 months ago. I just had spine surgery a few weeks ago so now I have about 4 more months out of work. I work at a hospital and help families in the community to get resources ect on my own time. If you ever have any questions I'd be glad to help. It's so crazy how our lives can change in the blink of an eye. It's scary! I'm actually back to work now, (I need to edit this listing, hehe). I was also out of work for 7 months. I had a rare birth defect on my brain that I was unaware of until it ruptured causing a brain hemorrhage which caused a stroke. It left me paralyzed on my right side, had to learn how to walk again and how to write, tie my shoes, etc. It was a rough year and a very frustrating one! I had brain surgery but they said it could take 3 years for the mass to completely go away. I'm doing much, MUCH better now and I know that you will get there as well! Stay strong, have faith, and never give up!!!💕

karwarren@cherie_candice I have worked with people at my hospital with that same medical issue. I work at a large rehabilitation hospital in out patient physical therapy. I'm glad you are better. I remember the patients who had the surgery. It's not that common. Due to our specialty services we see many people with a many different diagnosis. That is not an easy road back ! A bit scary too ! The hospital that I was in had a big rehabilitation center and they denied me because I didn't have insurance at that time so, I pretty much had to do it on my own. I still can't drive a car because I don't have all of the feeling back in my right leg/foot. Very frustrating. How about you? How is your recovery going? I imagine it has been hard for you to get around too with it being your back.

cherie_candice@jploper Have you started clinicals yet? We had clinicals 3 nights a week, 7 at night - 7 am then, had to be in class at 8am until about 3. Drive an hour home, sleep for maybe 2 hours, and be back at clinicals, (an hour away) at 7. I honestly don't know how we did it!! It's so worth it though in the end. I am always happy to answer any questions that you have :)

I'm in TN and have had 2 different ladies send me gorgeous bouquets of flowers when I had brain surgery; one from California and one all the way from Hawaii!
