Edit: found out that an "N" stamped on the tag means it was sold at a Nordstrom store. Great resource site: http://www.ehow.com/how_6705132_determine-coach-retail-outlet-stores.html#page=0 hope that helps everyone!!

@judyh3157 my pleasure! There was a site many years ago that I learned the info from that is no longer around, so I thought I'd put it up myself. Hate seeing fakes or over inflated bags for sale!

Great tutorial. I already knew about the X and the bullseye but not about the N.
Sep 14Reply

saalormun
@skyeyas thanks doll! I didn't know about that until recently. I wonder why Nordstrom goes through all that extra effort?
Sep 14Reply

skyeyas
Maybe that's how they could control what items were returned to them without receipts??
Sep 14Reply

saalormun
@skyeyas you're probably right. Must happen a lot!

@saalormun was it bad that they were sent to the factory store? They are still authentic aren't they? I don't get it why this whole ordeal. Is it because people over price them? Please explain.
Dec 05Reply

saalormun
@mrsowl no, it's fine if they were sent to the outlet. Usually they send their bags there at the end of the season. They don't discount their bags in the full price store. It's good to know because of price, exactly. If someone wants say $200 for a run of the mill signature bag, it's a rip. I've gotten most of my larger bags for $75-$120 at the outlets. Just good knowledge to have :).
Dec 05Reply

mrsowl
@saalormun thank you for your information. Well yes it shouldn't be a rip off.
Dec 05Reply

saalormun
@mrsowl no problem!

@saalormun now that I remember they aren't that cheap at the outlets. My mom bought a purse that was $500.00 and I seen others at the outlets for $400.00 It also depends on the style and type of purse. But if I am not mistaken is it that people on here that sell them for way more? Are they selling the type that aren't worth that much? Because at the outlets they aren't that cheap either. Not even at Thrifth shops.
Dec 05Reply

saalormun
@mrsowl again, depends on what you're getting. If it's an expensive material like Python, alligator, a specialty leather or something, they will still be expensive. If it's a mostly fabric bag, it generally will run in the $70-$120 range. That's after their additional markdowns of 20-50% (possibly more) which they often have. I've gotten bags for cheaper than that- $40-50.

saalormun
@dealbarginer no, that's not true. I have 1 or 2 with cs in the lining. Usually though they are lined with bold colors that coordinate with the bag.
Mar 01Reply

saalormun
@dealbarginer sorry to hear that. Sometimes it's hard to tell from photos :/.

@saalormun so if they don't have any of those markings, does that mean it's a fake? And the N for Nordstrom, where is that stamped at? I'm the corner like the X or somewhere else? Also, do you or anyone else have tips on how to tell the bag is a fake? Like the C's or seam, etc? Thanks for the info! 😊😊❤️
Dec 07Reply

saalormun
@nataliemattila it doesn't necessarily mean that it is fake, it's just more of information of where the bag was bought, and when. A factory bag from 10 years ago shouldn't be $100 if it's nothing special! Look for even cs on a signature bag. All stitches and seams should look neat. Leather and hardware should overall look like good quality. If there's a bag on posh you're not sure about, feel free to tag me and I'll take a look at it.

@saalormun thank you!! 😊

brigoodon
@saalormun have you ever seen an authentic creed patch without a serial number?
Sep 10Reply

saalormun
@bkupchur depends on what the item is. All full size bags will have the creed and number. A wristlet might have the creed, but no number. Same with a make-up pouch. If you're looking at something and you're not sure, I don't mind taking a look at it for you!

I also rely on this link myself. https://forum.purseblog.com they have a great seperate COACH section. I have spent hours on hours on searching and verification over the last 7 years and they really help. I have been very fortunate to find quite a few of my bags at thrift stores. Also learned alot about what works with cleaning them. Nice to meet ya btw 😆

@saalormun I'm kind of a Coach freak lol. Always wished I would find one at a thrift store and boom found 2. I am to afraid to buy a new one lol price and the fact I wouldn't want to ruin it. 😆😂

@katl001 I used to be a big collector, but I’m into different stuff now. Their vintage items are beautiful.

katl001
@saalormun Just found someone selling what they say is real but the number is one of the most faked. When I suggested she look it up she said she did and it was real. *shakes my head*
Dec 03Reply

katl001
Its the H4B-0532 one.
Dec 03Reply

saalormun
@katl001 is it a vintage or newer style?
Dec 03Reply

katl001
@saalormun hummmm seems to have been removed now. It looked old. I searched the number and got the article from eBay forums along with the purse blog all stating that number was fake. I always ask for creed pics it's just a safe guard.
