5- RARE - Imperial Venus Seashells Florida Gulf Collectible #impvenus1 These are Very Near Specimens if not idk I haven’t had them graded. But the 5 shells shown are the exact ones you’ll receive! Record Data Available on Request by purchaser Each one was had picked from the shores of my beach over many years of hunting. These aren’t easily found ESPECIALLY on shore, so it’s taken many years to accumulate just a handful! These are much more impressive than the images show, the scientists believe the animals Shell has the large “rolls” to help protect from hungry gastropods wishing to drill through for a snack. Sadly it’s not always affective. Ea Shell has been cleaned & I painstakingly removed all trapped sand from in between their rolls. They have a natural gloss a kin to cowries tho not as glassy! You can keep them sparkling by using mineral oil as needed too! The Imperial Venus Shells were misidentified yrs ago in Pawley Island SC by a local jewelry who began calling them Pawley Island Shells, I guess it stuck though yrs later he learned the actual name. So you may see lots of jewelry or others selling Pawley Island Shells which are Imperial Venus Shells but they aren’t near as beautiful as our gulf water imperials! The salinity & rough waters are thought to be partly to cause the atl ones to look duller & most if not all I’ve seen have little to no visible markings Not to put down their shells I hope to get to Pawley Island one day & find one!
