3/4 lb Fibrous Malachite

Nice specimen formation! I am such a huge fan of these mossy, velvety, sparkly malachites; a must have for any rock lover! These are often listed as rare, but I question that designation...it's like saying diamonds are rare. Size: 3.5" x 2.5" Weight: ~3/4 lbs Origin: Kasompe, Katanga, DR Congo circa 2004. Malachite is believed to have many beneficial properties, related to healing, protection and prosperity. Courage, strength and perseverance are fortified by these stones. The Congo has a history of conflict and these were collected by small family enterprises during a period of relative freedom. Things are really really bad for people since 2015 and most malachite has been unethically sourced by large foreign corporations and forced labor. Please be aware that Silky Malachite crumbles, pretty much every time you touch it or move it, so you will see small bits from shipping and should not be alarmed.
