The design's centerpiece is an American Elm tree planted by President Wilson on the North Lawn of the White House in 1913.
The ornament is a 24-karat gold-finished frame with a snowy scene.
It is bordered by elm leaves, olive branches, and holly leaves, with two peace doves bearing banners.
The words inscribed on the reverse side are a quote from President Wilson's 1917 war message: “Peace must be planted upon the tested foundations of political liberty”.
