2 Rare Vintage Puriton Slip Ware "INTAGLIO" Tea and Toast Plates " 8.5"

Offering for sale a pair of Rare ,hard to find Slip Ware pattern 1950's mountain flower and leaf design, Called Tea and Toast Plates. Made of thick ceramic and painted with a Slip Ware pattern with flowers and Brown and White stripes. Slip ware ceramics are created by dipping the object in pale slip then trailing various colours of slip over the top of it in intricate patterns. Originating in England in the 18th century. Really nice, but both have a flea bite on the rim--however the pattern is such that a white stripe joins them and looks like part of the pattern . Great as a service pieces, would go with any modern dish ware with browns in it. Lap plates are 8 1/2" in diameter. Very nice setting for tea and toast or coffee and dessert.Made by Purinton USA.
