Here are 3 empty cigar & cigarillo boxes for storage/decor/collecting. All were used to hold hardware supplies by a WWII Navy Vet (1918-'07). Two are Evermore & the Cigarillos are Robt. Burns. The oldest one is the Evermore box made of wood/plywood & is in fragile condition, as can be seen. The lid does NOT stay up on its own. It held 50 "Claro" cigars. The interior reads "A Kafka & Co. New Haven, Conn." (Mr. Adolph Kafka's death was reported in the NY Times on 7/13/1921). The second Evermore box was a display box & held 50 "Light" cigars, the bottom reads "National Cigar Company, Frankfort, Indiana.". The Robt. Burns Cigarillo box also was a display box that held 50 Cigarillos & the bottom stamp is from PA. I *think* the bottom stamps were IRS tax stamps which were required until 1959. There's a red badge inside the Cigarillo box that says "with new Smooth Smoke binder technology" - that "technology" was introduced in 1957, to further narrow the date.
